Very basics of Microblogging
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010As simple as microblogging seems there is a bit of a science to it.
Microblogging should be looked at as a networking or social event where you go to get to know people. For example, would you go to a party and introduce yourself by telling someone you want them to buy your product? I certianly hope not. You would first tell them who you are and ask them questions to get to know them, then if you are getting along and or they ask you can point them in the direction of your blog or website. Give them content, lots and lots of content first.
Things to do in Twitter:
- Follow people you like or have similar interests (about 100 or so a day… find them by following the followers of someone you think has the same target market)
- Tweet at least a few times a day (generally 8 personal or content filled vs. 2 biz or sales – at most)
- RT (retweet) others posts and Reply to people to have a conversation
- Stay away from over-auotmating your site. No one likes a faker.
- Follow back people that follow you and invite others to follow you.
- Have fun and be nice. Meet some new people and make some new friends.
That’s the basics of Microblogging. Much more to come about creating a brand and marketing using microblogs.
